Composed of the same alloy as the cent, the two cent piece is one of the short-lived issues of United States coinage. The motto "In God We Trust" appeared for the first time on the new coin due to the increased religous sentiment during the Civil War crisis. The complete set consists of only 13 dates and varieties and is reasonably affordable to assemble.
